[Chloe raises a brow at that.] You really want to know? I was a Freshman in a high school for the arts. One minute I'm minding my own business, coloring red streaks in my hair, and the next minute a creepy custodian is chasing me through the hallways, yelling and screaming at me. I thought I was in trouble, see. Skipping for the first time. Only that wasn't it. The custodian came right up to me a-and-- h-he changed. H-his face st-started melting off and was discolored and--I screamed. Ran through the halls like a lunatic, actually. Teachers--my vice principle had to restrain me. They thought I was crazy. [She winces, unable to keep an embarrassed blush from rising to her cheeks.] I-I didn't realize why no one else could see him. I thought... m-maybe I was crazy. Only I'm not. It was a ghost, trying to get my attention. [Slants a rueful glance at Bobby.] Horror story number one. They get better, believe me.

[Shakes her head and smiles, deciding to let that little comment go for now.] This amulet was given to me by my mother. B-before she died. She told me it would keep the bogey men away when I was younger, and I believed her. The amulet's color has changed over time, though. I-I think it has some kind of power that--that helps me. My abilities. [Gaze lifts to Bobby's, as if he might have some insight even though he should have no real reason to.] It's kept me safe already. Sh-she... told me not to take it off. [When she was dead. Which should have been forbidden.]

[She tries to laugh--to smile at imagining waking up in a frigid room one day--but the memories of what she had done in her sleep prevent her from enjoying the humor.] Y-yeah... [Cue: uncomfortable Chloe.]
