[Bobby's had a few scattering nightmares at the Keep, but none since he and Raven started rooming together. He'd try not to read too much into that, but, well, no, he kind of likes reading things into that. If nothing else, even if it's a little ridiculous, he feels better knowing that Raven's there, just in case.
Tonight, his dream's not exactly a nightmare, but it's definitely a little unsettling. He's back in the mansion, which is always a plus, and it doesn't feel like he's ever left. And Rogue's in his room, sitting on his bed like she never left, either, and he - doesn't know what to think. Because she did leave, and now she's just back, like nothing's changed, like she hadn't left them when they needed her, like she hadn't left him without a word of good-bye.
When she takes his hand, her skin warm against his, the only thing he can think to say is that it wasn't what he wanted. Which isn't exactly the best response, but he doesn't know if he should assume she did this for him, if it's arrogant to assume that or hurtful to think he had no part in her decision.
And he doesn't know what it means for them, what he's supposed to do know. If she just wants him to pretend that her packing her bags in the middle of the night and leaving meant nothing.
When he starts awake he automatically moves closer to Raven, pulling her in before he's even completely out of sleep.]
Raven?

Raven?

But it doesn't ever come to pass because she's whisked away to a Keep that's in another time and place, and home stands still, waiting for her return.
Or at least, so she hopes.
But tonight time moves, and there's Hank -- a beast -- and blurred visions that don't make any sense, tears -- hers -- and then there on the beach, Magneto and Charles fighting and he's right-- God, Erik is right. Both Russian and American ships have missiles headed their way, and it's because of who and what they are, nothing more, nothing less.
Then there's shots fired and Charles goes down -- her brother, her big brother's on the ground and alright, Erik's stopped trying to turn the bombs on the ships but the cost is so very great.
Then she's standing with him, beside him, and as the dream is finishing, she's pulled into consciousness by an arm wrapping around her stomach, pulling her close.]
Wha -- Bobby?
no subject
He's not entirely sure why, it's just - that dream had felt so real. It still does.]
Sorry. I didn't mean to wake you.
[Except for the pulling in and calling her name, but that was only to check to make sure she was there. Like that wouldn't wake her, or anything, and yeah, he hadn't thought that through.]
no subject
Sure about that?
[Smiling sleepily, she shifts in bed to face him, rubbing the sleep from her eyes.]
You okay?
[She’s not sure if she is.]
no subject
[He'd turned to her automatically, true, but he'd still wanted to hear her voice. He smiles back at her when she rolls over to face him, then his expression turns thoughtful at her question.]
I don't know. I had... kind of a weird dream.
no subject
[He has her attention now, and she pushes herself up a little, so she can look him in the eyes, a hand snaking to rest on his shoulder.]
What happened?
no subject
[That's a little strange, right? That they both had weird dreams that night? Though then he's thoroughly distracted by her next question, because yeah. Awkward.]
I was back in my world, like I'd never left. And - one of our teammates, who'd abandoned us, came back. Like she'd just never gone, like nothing was changed.
no subject
[Fidget.]
Except...everything was changing.
no subject
What happened?
no subject
[She hesitates, then just -- sort of tells him. Everything. Everything she dreamed.
The blurry visions of tears that don't make sense, Charles and Erik arguing, fighting, and Erik was right about humans being afraid, and Russian and American ships had missiles aimed at the beach she was standing on.
She babbles on about seeing Charles fall, a shot -- and his inability to get up, to stand and even though he'd fallen she still went with Magneto, because he accepted her -- kissed her, that was a snippet, too, and....]
--That's it. It just...cuts off.

And it's strange, hearing about Charles and Erik when they were young, even if it is just a dream. Hearing about their separation, which he knew had happened in his world, but - they're so young, here. Barely older than Bobby himself.
He doesn't say anything for a long moment after she's done, because he's not sure exactly what to say, just absently trails his fingers up and down her upper arm.]
Did it - do you think that could be something that would have happened? If we hadn't come here.
[He kind of thinks that might be the case with his dream.]
that icon is the most adorable
Yes. Absolutely. It's what we were heading for, training for at Charles's mansion.
he has such a thinky face
What do you think?
[Bobby's not exactly sure what he means by that. About the dream over all, maybe. About the split up, about the way the humans had acted, about her siding with Magneto. Maybe all of the above.]
/kisses all over iiiiit
[She sighs.]
It wasn't ever easy, living in Charles's shadow. And Erik made me feel...whole. Less of a freak. [Like how Bobby makes her feel, except Bobby makes her feel way better.]
Does that make sense?
/fails html and iconing omg I'm so sorry
[He says it before he even thinks about it, because it's kind of a knee jerk reaction.]
It does make sense. And Erik - your Erik - he is right, about some things. Hiding really sucks, and we shouldn't have to do it. And some humans will always fear us.
[Bobby used to just hate Magneto, to just be so angry at him for being one of the main reasons why humans still feared them. But that was before John joined Magneto, before Jean did, before Bobby grew up and realized nothing was black and white.]
But it's not really fair, for us to think they're all the same, just like it's not fair for them to think we're all the same. It doesn't always have to be us and them.
sdjklsjdf XD
It wasn't just fear, though. It was -- nuclear warheads, missiles...all aimed at us. Because they decided we were a threat. It's -- it's always going to be us and them, Bobby.

People are afraid of what they don't understand, and they usually react to that fear with violence. But since coming here, I've seen - it isn't always like that, not on all worlds. Some worlds, people with abilities and people without live together. Not at complete peace, sure, because no world ever is. Even on my world, it's better. Our ambassador is a mutant.
no subject
They being 'humans'. People not like them, like him and her.
no subject
He's quiet for a moment, considering.
"And humans don't have a monopoly on fear and hate. In my world, mutants hurt other mutants and humans just as often as humans hurt other humans and mutants. But they also help each other just as often."
no subject
"They hurt each other when I'm from, too." Darwin's death was still fresh, even if it had been months ago. She would never be able to erase that from her mind.
no subject
And that sounded too personal to be just a general agreement. He slides his hand up to her cheek, absently brushing his thumb along her cheekbone. "Do you want to talk about it?"
no subject
"I saw him die. He -- blew up, kind of. Shaw has this ability to absorb power and use it and he used it on Darwin. There was ash everywhere, nothing even left to bury."
no subject
But being an X-Man means that's pretty much bound to happen, unfortunately.
no subject
They hadn't even been at that facility more than a few days, and--
They lost not just one, but two.
"Angel -- she left, with Shaw. Betrayed us all, fought against us, in my dream."
no subject
"She left with the man who killed your friend?"
no subject
"...Yeah. She did. Even...after he'd killed him, she still left."
no subject
"I learned a long time ago that there's nothing black and white to this, but that... kind of is. I'm sorry."
no subject
no subject
But still.
no subject
"This is depressing." She flops onto her back, but doesn't stray far from Bobby.
"Know what I need? Chocolate."
She pushes herself up and goes to their dresser, rooting around a little.
"Stole this from the kitchen. It's baking chocolate. Want some?"
no subject
And then his eyes brighten a little when she pulls out chocolate. "The answer to that question is pretty much always yes. Although if we save some, I can make chocolate ice cream out of it."
no subject
"Chocolate, and ice cream make things better. But-" she bites off a little piece. "Know what makes everything better?" She grins at him, and smiles.
"You."
