[The voices are getting to him. He's trying to pretend like they aren't, but it's harder to pretend like everything's okay when he can't ignore the voices of people he's left behind, telling him it's not. Bobby'd shifted into his ice form, wanting the distance being made of ice helped him with.
But he can still hear the voices. And he knows what stops them - or at least, one method of stopping them - but after watching his brother's pumpkin "die," he doesn't want to do it again. He will, though, because he doesn't know how else to make them stop. So he's out in the hallways and around the keep, looking for particular pumpkins and then standing in front of them, staring.
He'd meant to just psych himself up, ready himself for what he knows is coming when he takes the pumpkins off their stakes, but with them right there in front of him, talking to him, he can't help but reply. ("You can't blame - what you want to me to forgive isn't what needs to be forgiven!" to Rogue, "You're an ass, you're the one who betrayed me - us" to John, "No, I'd never have - leaving wasn't my choice" to others.) There's also a whole lot of apologies mixed in there.
Eventually, he takes the pumpkin off the stake, doing his best to ignore its scream, and stays with it until it's done 'dying'. Then he's moving on to the next one.]
(Feel free to come across him at any point, either when he's talking to pumpkins, or when he's actually gotten to the killing part! He'll be doing this with John, Kitty, Pete, and Rogue's pumpkins, (Jean and Ororo will get talking, but no death, out of consideration for Scott) so if you want to run across him with a particular one, go ahead!)

Normally things aren't this bad.
[Well, except for the zombies. But he's not going to mention that right then.
He follows her gaze to the pumpkin.]
Yeah. Well, not really, but I'm pretty sure it's her pumpkin.

I can see why you thought... I mean. I thought it was me, until I saw the hair.
[She lifts a hand and motions to her head, and there's a bit of pumpkin goop that's plastered some of the short strands to her head. Not high on her list of priorities right now.]
Mine was that long, back in high school. I chopped it off, donated it to that thing. Makes wigs for people with cancer or whatever. That thing.

[He looks over at her hair, then smiles.]
Did you? That's really cool. Did you want to cut it off, or did you do it just do donate?
[Yeah, he's just going to keep making small talk, totally ignoring the whispers. Not listening at all.]

I didn't grow it out intending to donate it, but I was tired of messing with it. My dad was the one that suggested I donate it, which meant I cut it shorter than I was thinking, but it turned out pretty well.
[Her voice lulls and she rubs at her neck, an the whispers seem to swell--]
Anyone told you yet that if you find your pumpkin and ki--remove it, you'll stop hearing the voices?
no subject
Your dad was smart. It definitely turned out well. I like it, it looks cool.
[He frowns at her next words, looking back at the Kitty pumpkin.]
No. Does it really work? I didn't want to mess with my own pumpkin, in case something weird happened.

I don't know if it works for certain; someone told me through the journal thing. I've been looking for mine, haven't found it yet. Didn't occur to me at the time but she could have been lying.
no subject
Maybe, but most of the people around here are generally helpful. Well, except for the odd few that you have to be careful of. Do you know who it was that told you?
no subject
Mm....Mimmi. She said her name was Mimmi. Ring any bells for you?
no subject
I've seen her posting on the journals, but I don't know her. She's not one of the ones that people've been warned about, though.

[That sounds ominous.]
