[Bobby's outside, holding the journal facing towards him with one hand and tossing a snowball with the other.]

I promise this is not my fault! I had absolutely nothing to do with this.

[Not that anyone except for maybe two people would have any reason to suspect him. But he's too used to having to give a disclaimer every time snow comes when it probably shouldn't have.]

But since it is here and awesome, I am totally taking advantage of it.

Does anyone like ice skating? Someone go skating with me, guys!

[There's a pause as he throws the snowball high up into the air and lets it fall back to the ground.]

Or if we can get enough people, I am all in for a game of snow capture the flag.

[It is SNOWING, and Bobby is the happiest mutant ever right now. Reply here or come bug him outside? He's wandering around all over, so if it's some place outside, feel free to run into him there.]

Is that something everybody in your world can do or just you?

Just me, as far as I know. Other people can do other things, but I've never met anyone who can make ice.

*Hm.*

What sort of things?

Pretty much anything, really. Control the weather, phase through solid objects, move things with their mind, fly, shape shift, shoot lasers out of their eyes.

*So humans could be psychic, too. That wasn't really surprising.*

How many of your people can do this sort of stuff? Can they all do it or just certain ones?

Just certain ones. We're the minority, actually. Everyone else is entirely human.

What about you, and your world?

[He's curious, now.]

We have our share of psychics, mostly among the lowbloods. Well, we did, now I guess its just me.

[He's going to ask about the lowbloods thing, but then he's distracted by that last part.]

You're psychic? Cool. The 'read minds' kind, or the 'move things with your mind' kind?

*Ugh.*

*That was sort of a sore spot since Karkat kept assuming he could. Or whatever that crazy motherfucker did.
Sollux pushes his glasses up on his forehead and eyebeams the ice near him, making a small hole in it and cracking the surrounding ice. His eyebeams are red and blue, like his eyes.*

[He startles slightly at the first bit of the icebeams, but then grins.]

Awesome! I know a mutant back on my world who could do that. Do the glasses hold back your eyebeams?

*A 'mutant?'*

Huh?

*He looks back to Bobby, leaving the glasses up on his forehead.*

No, I just don't want to break them, they're my only pair left.

[And his question is totally answered when Sollux turns to look back at him without lowering the glasses. But still.]

That's really cool. The guy I kno - knew, who could do that, he couldn't control it. He had to wear special glasses to keep it contained.

*Sollux snickers a bit at the idea that someone else had to use something to control his eyebeams. Even mutated humans were weaker.*

You know a lot of people who can do things like that?

Yeah, I do. But I'm a bit of a special case, I guess. I went to a school for people with powers, a place that helped us learn how to use them. Most of my friends back home can do things like that, but it's not like that for most people in my world.

*He raises an eyebrow and pushes his glasses back down over his eyes.*

You have people to teach each other how to do stuff like that?

[He nods.]

Usually people are really young when they get their powers, and have no idea how to use them. Some of them need training, to learn how to use their powers. Or not use them, sometimes.

No one teaches you how to use your powers in your world?

No...you just kind of learn or you don't.

*He doesn't add that "or you don't" tends to mean you get yourself killed. That seems like the obvious result to Sollux.*

Oh. That kind of sucks.

I guess it's like that for some in my world, too, though. We're the only school like us that I know of.

What's a school, anyway?

[By now, Bobby's used to getting questions like that. Especially today, people seem to just keep asking him about things he's always taken for granted and has to actually pause to think about how to explain it. At least this is much better than trying to figure out how to explain what snow is.]

Uh. It's a place you go when you're young, to learn things that will supposedly help you make it in the world when you grow up. Teach you skills that you'll need to get a job and stuff, plus just things like history that people thinks everyone should know.

Mine's a bit different from a normal school, because we teach all of that plus powers training.

*Huh. Humans sure were weird.*

Do all humans go to these things or just the special ones?

Pretty much everyone does. Or at least they have some sort of equivalent, where they're taught things by their elders, or something.

Your world doesn't have anything like that?

*Sollux shakes his head.*

All the adults were offworld, we were pretty much on our own if we wanted to learn anything.
Well, and our lususes, but mine was kind of useless.

[His brows furrow a bit in confusion.]

What're lususes? And you don't have any adults on your world at all?

Our guardians. And no, not really, they're all busy.
